🥮 Stovetop Sponge Cake Recipe
📝 Ingredients
- 4 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 cup sugar (200 g)
- 1 cup milk (240 ml)
- ½ cup oil (120 ml)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (250 g)
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Pinch of salt
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prepare the pot
- Grease a thick-bottom pot or cake pan
- Line the bottom with parchment paper
- Cover the lid with a clean cloth (to catch steam)
- Make the batter
- Beat eggs + sugar until pale and fluffy
- Add oil, milk, vanilla → mix gently
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt → fold in carefully
- Cook on the stove
- Pour batter into the pan
- Place on very low heat
- Cover tightly
- Cook 45–55 minutes
- ❌ Do not open the lid for the first 30 minutes
- Check doneness
- Insert a toothpick → comes out clean
- Turn off heat and rest 10 minutes
- Unmold
- Run a knife around edges
- Flip carefully onto a plate

- Heat must be very low
- Use a heat diffuser if possible
- Batter should be thick but flowing
- Don’t rush cooking time
