For the filling

  • 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup heavy cream (or milk for lighter version)
  • ½ cup grated cheese (Parmesan, Gruyère, or mozzarella)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or parsley
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. Cook the onions
    • Heat butter and olive oil in a pan.
    • Add onions and sauté on low heat until soft and lightly golden (10–12 minutes).
    • Set aside.
